Whats to say? I'm PRODUCING a play! It's crazy. This April I'll be playing Jules in boom by Peter Sinn Nachtrieb. boom is a dark comedic allegory of survival in the face of impending doom.  On the eve of cataclysm, a grad student in marine biology lures a journalism student to his research lab with a personal ad.  When catastrophe strikes, a casual encounter becomes “Sex to change the course of the world.” And then there’s Barbara, mysteriously pulling levers and offering up her take on the legacy of the human race.  When boom premiered in 2008, it was named one of the most produced plays of the year. Just over a decade later, it speaks our contemporary, anthropocentric moment with a sense of humor. A comedic exploration of environmental inevitability, denial and, who gets to survive.

One of my classmates asked me to read as Dr. Rank for a reading! Every scene gave me new information about the character that I attempted to incorporate in my next scene. After this experience I want to go back and look into the character more and explore his unique physicality. It was an incredible challenge, and I was able to work with some amazing actors.

I have the distinct pleasure of working with one of the directors in my class. I am having so much fun exploring this character and play.  We’ve had several rehearsals and preformed in class twice so far. The final class is an invited showcase for 8 directors, I’ll post a link to that information soon! But keep the evening of the 6th or 7th clear.

Full disclosure, while filming my short I learned that I lacked the ability to direct actors. Even though I have worked with several amazing artists and always watch them scrutiny.

So, in order to remedy this issue I signed up for a directing class with Karen Kolhaas! We have been meeting and working with actors for several weeks now at The Atlantic Theater Company. I have learned so much already as a “baby” director and as an actor. This process has given me a deeper understanding of the directors job and how to interact with actors and vise versa. I can’t wait to take this knowledge into my next project as an actor or a director.

This year I took the first steps to becoming a filmmaker! Taking Filmmaking I at The Barrow Group with Lorrel Manning. He passed on so much knowledge to our small class of 4 people. Helping all of us take our ideas and build them into something more. It was incredible watching my classmates through this process and to finally see an idea Eli Schenkel and I created come to life with the help of Cronin Cullen, Judy Lie, Blaire O’Leary, and Enoch Suho Lee.

I took my first stage combat class over the weekend with Dispatch Combat, and worked with single sword and quarter staff. No lie, it was so much fun! I got to work with a weapon I'm well versed in, and if you look closely you can see I handicapped myself. Can you guess how? And I learned a weapon I've been eager to learn for some time, Little John here I come. I'm not sure where my interest in quarter staff comes from, but I'm glad I learned the basics. I can't wait to take another class/workshop and continue honing these skills. But I really want to apply these skills on set.   

If you said 'This guy!' you were right! I got to work with Mark Reay, who was suggested to me by Amy Gossels. Both fantastic people. I got some fantastic shots out this, which you can check out in my gallery (linked below). Believe it or not it was my second headshot session ever! I know what your thinking, "Really? He looks so good!" Well, we have Mark to thank for that. And my parents! See you soon! 

Remember the projects from last year? Well I heard, "My whole class gasped at this part!". Which was my first death on camera, by the way. I've got some ideas for the next one, and I can't wait for the opportunity! But don't forget how Wadsworth uncovered the murders of several spies either.

In the last video, you can see Caleb as he performs a Turing Test, but the AI he's working with has other ideas. He's already an awkward guy, but as soon as you throw in a new weird fantasy he doesn't really know what to do.

Last week I performed a scene from Ex Machina. If you haven’t seen the film you definitely should. I had the opportunity to play Caleb, the socially awkward computer programmer invited to perform a Turing test on an AI, Ava. As soon as I have the footage I’ll upload it so you can see!

Hey everybody,  headed down to Philly with some friends to create a film in 48 hours.  Something I know I've never done.  And get this, they gave me the lead!!  What a shock.  We will be filming a fantacy film about Stu, a delivery boy in love with one of his co-workers.  Can't wait to share it with everyone.

Today I have the pleasure of writing to you from Glasgow, Scotland.  For the past week I’ve been in London, England seeing shows (“The Book of Morman” and “Imogen”) and touring schools (Rose Bruford, LAMDA, and RADA).  Today I am lucky enough to be taking an Audition Prep class and Saturday and Sunday I will be taking Voice Workshop at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. 

Can’t wait to share what I learn!

The NOW Collective, what's that?  Well, it's a band new theater company aimed at bringing "new original works" to the community.  
Hold on though, you did catch that right?  "New original works" = NOW... OOH sorry, I can't see your reaction so I wasn't sure. 

But anyway, the company was founded out of the 2015-2016 Barrow Group Apprenticeship Class. And the Co-Artistic Directors, Sean McGrath and McKenna DuBose, aim to provide an environment for artists to cultivate their talents while exploring challenging and original pieces.  Check us out! I'll keep you posted about our next show.

Wow. I haven't been a very productive actor (with regards to the website to be clear!) But I'm back and I plan to make updates once a week from now on.  But hey, I know your hungry for more, so have a taste of some Hungry Ghosts!

This original comedy makes its debut next week on the main stage at TBG Theater. Set in a posh Malibu rehab facility (actors) Shane Allen, Connor Dylan, Nathaniel Mason, and Patryce Williams tackle existential anguish and the nationwide opioid epidemic in a way that illuminates the power of human connections. 

As I'm sure you noticed, I'm not one of the talented actors seen on stage this time. Because I am working much of the behind-the-scenes work. I'm working as the head carpenter, head electrician, and stage manager.

GREAT NEWS!! And no, its not a job, but a close second. Believe it or not I'm writing you from Philadelphia! I took a day trip with fellow actor/girlfriend Arielle Beth for an audition at Terror Behind the Walls! Which is a massive haunted house in Eastern State Penitentiary. Pretty cool if you ask me. I've always wanted to sneak into an abandoned prison, or something, but no one will ever go. And if there's no one to scare it wouldn't be fun so I don't go. Fingers crossed!! 

I’ve been a busy busy actor since my last check in! I’ve been trying to go on as many auditions as possible.  And I know what you are thinking, and I agree, auditions are not a way to practice the craft. To practice the craft I’ve been working on monologues and scenes for an hour each day. It’s difficultly, but I do my best to find the time. Thats not why I’m here! I wanted to tell you about this awesome workshop I’ve been taking with a casting director, Amy Gossels. It focuses on commercial shoots, something I’ve never gone in depth with. And, if I’m honest it’s quite difficult. The nuances of balances a natural tone when attempting to sell a product or a serves without forcing it on the audience or making it seem as though I’m selling something. I’m taking the workshop again in December to help reenforce the skills.

This week was great!! As many of you may know I work as a carpenter as well.  I’m currently working on a build for a show at the Barrow Group going up later this month called Muswell Hill by The Pond Theater company.  A group of brilliant actors, most of which hail from Britain. They focus on premiering plays by emerging British and Irish playwrights, and hope to provide a context for them using modern revivals. I had the opportunity to work with the company last year as both a carpenter and ASM. I can’t wait to buy my ticket and hope to see you there.
